How baccarat roads work

Every mark on the board has a reason.

The Big Road shows who won. The three roads under it — Big Eye Boy, Small Road and Cockroach Pig — never do. They show whether the Big Road's shape is repeating or breaking, using two rules you can learn right here.

  • Red: repeating
  • Blue: breaking
  • Tie: a slash, never a bead

The Big Road

Same winner goes down the column. A new winner starts a new column to the right.

A tie never adds a bead. It shows as a green slash.

Each new bead adds a red or blue mark to the three roads underneath, and the board says why. Watch a few hands, then take over.

Hand 5 · Player again → down to Row 2.

  • Big Eye Boy: blue (≠)
  • Small Road: blue (≠)
  • Cockroach Pig: blue (≠)

Big Eye Boy: This bead is at Row 2. Column 3 stopped at Row 1, one row above → blue (≠).

02Rule 1

A new column compares depths

When the Big Road starts a new column, compare the column that just finished with the column N further back. Same depth is red. Different depth is blue.

  • N=1Big Eye Boy
  • N=2Small Road
  • N=3Cockroach Pig

Each road waits until there is something to compare. Big Eye Boy's first mark is at Column 2, Row 2 (or Column 3, Row 1). Small Road starts one column later, Cockroach Pig two columns later.

Column 3 starts → Big Eye Boy adds a mark.

Big Eye Boy adds

Column 2 has 1 bead. Column 1 has 1 bead. Same depth → red (=).

03Rule 2

Going down checks one row

When the Big Road goes down a column, look at the column N to the left. The mark is blue only when that column stopped exactly one row above this bead. Every other case is red.

  • That column has a bead at this row → red
  • It stopped exactly one row above → blue
  • It stopped earlier → red

Hand 3 · Player again → down to Row 2.

Big Eye Boy adds

This bead is at Row 2. Column 1 stopped at Row 1, one row above → blue (≠).

04Three roads

Same rules, different distances

Big Eye Boy, Small Road and Cockroach Pig follow the same two rules. The only difference is how far back they look: 1, 2 or 3 columns. Tap any mark to see which beads made it.

Column 8 starts → compare Column 7 with Column 6 (1 column further back).

Tap a Big Eye Boy mark

Column 7 has 3 beads. Column 6 has 1 bead. Different depth → blue (≠).
